Political power is seductive.
Just ask Victoria’s and West Australia’s now departed Premiers – Daniel Andrews and Mark McGowan respectively.
Few individuals have revelled in the exhilaration of their former jobs more than these two. It’s the power, the chauffeured cars, the security personnel, the adoration of sycophantic and ambitious MPs, along with the constant thrill of manipulating political messaging.
Just as the music has stopped for Mark and for Daniel – there’s a widely held view that it’s over for a further state Premier.
I refer of course, to Annastacia Palaszczuk – Premier of Queensland since 2015.
A recent unscheduled European holiday significantly increased calls for Palaszczuk to go and well in advance of a state election due next year.
Memo to Annastacia: for the sake of the nation and in deference to long-suffering voters – please follow your Labor mates Mark and Daniel out the back door.
Why hang around with a ballooning state debt, interest rates heading north, and energy and housing policies causing unremitting chaos for millions of people? Get out before the consequences of your policy handiwork unravels further.
Take another break Annastacia – but make this one a long one as Mark and Daniel have wisely done.
